Welcome to SA’s first online insurance website for fitness gurus.

You’re a fitness professional, why do I need insurance?
Insurance transfers risk – that means that it covers those risks that are so large that they could cripple your business if they occurred. An example would be a client suffering a back injury or heart attack whilst training and as a result being unable to work or function as well as incurring medical costs. That client may look to recover their damages and costs from you as the professional trainer. Insurance cover would provide protection for just such an occurrence or incident.

There are two types of insurance that you need as a fitness professional

  1. General Public Liability insurance – this is designed to protect you from claims for financial compensation where you were negligent and this negligence is the cause of an injury or death. Liability claims can be high because they are based on tangible factors such as your clients loss of earnings and medical costs as well as intangible factors such as pain and suffering.
  2. Professional Indemnity insurance – this is for any professional person who offers advice. In the case of a fitness professional, it provides protection against actions brought against the professional following damages suffered by a client as a result of errors or omissions made by that professional. Specifically relevant to anyone who provides exercise or nutritional plans or advice.

FitSure offers a combined GPL and PI insurance cover, with various cover and pricing combinations which start from as little as R670 per annum.
